As is pretty obvious by now, I am a firm believer that luck, in many ways, is down to you.
When life gives you lemons and all that…
There is however a caveat to this in terms of comparative luck. Speaking only for myself here, I was lucky enough to be born in a country with a robust health care system and infrastructure. Access to food, water and electricity are facts of life I don’t even consider.
If I’m thirsty I have a glass of water (tap, filtered, mineral, bubbly, bottled, branded etc…)
If I’m hungry I cook something in the oven.
When it gets dark I switch on the lights.
Life is so nice and so easy.
I partner with micro entrepreneurs in Uganda providing renewable energy sources and non-polluting cooking technology, mentoring on business strategy, education outreach and business grant applications.
For the past 2 years I have primarily teamed with Self Help Initiative for Development (SHIFOD) - a microventure that works with agrarian communities with no access to government provided infrastructure. SHIFOD helps introduce small scale sustainable farming practices, hygiene, education and renewable energy resources.
More recently they have helped to fundraise, purchase and deliver much needed food supplies during the Covid19 pandemic. Every penny made goes straight back into the communities they serve.
They are the ultimate mission-led entrepreneurs…
1.5% of all 4leaf profits go to SHIFOD and I am always looking for partners passionate about sustainable development. Fellow mentors, technical advisors, sponsors, cheerleaders and fundraisers are all very welcome.
Let me know if you would like to be involved.
